Michael R. Reid, CFA
Mike Reid is Managing Director and a Senior Portfolio Manager for Exchange Capital Management, Inc.

He founded Exchange Capital Management in 1989 and today is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee, manages business development and regulatory affairs.

Prior to founding the firm, Mike served as Vice President of Investments at Heber Fuger Wendin, Inc. in Birmingham, Michigan where he managed fixed income portfolios for community banks and both property & casualty and life insurance companies. Mike also held positions in the Retail Sales Division and Corporate Services Group at Kidder Peabody & Co. in Detroit.

Mike presently chairs the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti Local Development Finance Authority, the governing body that administers public funding for the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti SmartZone. One of 13 statewide SmartZones chartered by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti
SmartZone focuses on entrepreneurial business development, technology transfer and commercialization, and job creation.

Twice elected to the Ann Arbor City Council, Mike served on the Finance Committee, the Labor Negotiation Committee, the Community Development Executive Committee, and the Special Liquor Control Committee.

An active participant in community life, Mike also serves on the non-profit boards of Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County and ArborVitae. Mike previously served on the non-profit boards of the Ann Arbor YMCA and the Ann Arbor Youth Volunteer Corps.

Mike was awarded the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1993. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Detroit. In his free time, he coaches youth soccer, plays hockey and runs an occasional marathon.

Mike earned a BGS degree from the University of Michigan in 1982 and resides in Ann Arbor with his wife Janet and their four children.


Kevin D. McVeigh, CFA
Kevin is Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for Exchange Capital Management, Inc.

In 1995, He joined Mike Reid as business partner of Exchange Capital Management. Today he is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee and leads business development efforts and ongoing client support.

Prior to joining Exchange Capital Management, Kevin was Vice President of Investments at Swanson Capital Management in Ann Arbor where he was actively involved in portfolio management, security selection, management of the trading department and a member of the company’s Investment Policy Committee. Kevin began his career with Kidder Peabody & Company in Detroit in their Retail Sales Division. 

In 1986, Kevin earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Michigan State University. In 1983, he graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and was awarded a lifetime membership to the Gamma Phi Honor Society. In 1982, Villanova’s Commerce and Finance Department nominated Kevin for the award of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.

Kevin was awarded the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1994. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Detroit and has been a panelist for Money magazine.

When not attending to business, Kevin enjoys an active lifestyle. He has climbed two of the worlds’ continental summits; dog sledded in Canada and completed two Ironman Triathlons. Kevin lives in Ann Arbor, supports numerous local organizations and particularly enjoyed his time as a Mott Children’s Hospital volunteer.


Anthony J. DiGiovanni, CFA
Tony is Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager for Exchange Capital Management, Inc.

He is actively involved in portfolio management, security selection, management of the trading department and a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee.

Prior to joining Exchange Capital in 2005, Tony held positions as a research analyst, portfolio manager and manager of information systems at MFO Management Company in Birmingham, Michigan and Sigma Investment Counselors in Southfield, Michigan.

Tony was awarded the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1995 and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Detroit.

In 1989, Tony graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and in 1996 earned his Master of Business Administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. His outstanding academic achievement earned him the honor of “High Distinction” for both degrees.

Not purely an academic, Tony was a member of the University of Michigan Marching Band where he played the alto saxophone.

Today, Tony’s personal life revolves around family. He and his wife Laura live in Ann Arbor with their six children. Tony coaches soccer and is involved in the Ann Arbor School System where Laura has been a teacher for many years. They support Hands Across the Water, an Ann Arbor-based adoption agency, where they adopted three of their children.

Tony also finds time to play on a local softball team, in an indoor soccer league and an occasional round of golf.

Martin J. Bodnar, JD, MBA

Marty Bodnar is Senior Vice-President for Exchange Capital Management, Inc.

He is actively involved in managing business development and regulatory affairs and directing client support services that bridge our portfolio and wealth management expertise with advice clients receive from outside tax and legal professionals.

Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Marty served as Associate Athletic Director at the University of Michigan where for 12 years he directed the ticket sales and marketing for all of U-M’s Division I varsity sports programs. Prior to his return to U-M, Marty held public office while serving as the elected Law Director for the City of Barberton, Ohio and Chief Prosecutor of the Barberton Municipal Court. He also practiced law focusing on estate, business and tax planning.

Marty received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan, where he was a scholarship athlete on the basketball team for four years and named co-captain in his junior year. Marty was recognized for his outstanding performance in the classroom, receiving a NCAA post-graduate scholarship and being named an Academic All American three times.

Following graduation from the University of Michigan, Marty received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron and his Masters of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. He resides in Pittsfield Township with his wife Renee and they have two children.

Marty has been active in the community where he has lived and worked. He was founding member of Summit County, Ohio, Domestic Violence Task Force, mentor in the University of Michigan Mentorship Program and guest instructor at an Eastern Michigan University Leadership class. He currently is Board Chairman of Careers Through Faith, Inc. and enjoys reading, traveling, taking walks with his wife, Renee, and playing golf.

Thomas J. Costigan, CFP

Tom is a Portfolio Manager for Exchange Capital Management, Inc.

He is actively involved in portfolio management, security selection, development of investment sufficiency case studies and is a member of the firm's Investment Policy Committee

Prior to joining Exchange Capital Management, Inc. in 2006, Tom was a securities analyst at MetLife in Tamp, Florida assisting their fixed income portfolio managers with the day to day operations of the company's multi-billion dollar investment portfolios.

In 2003, Tom graduated with honors from Michigan State University earning a Bachelor of Finance degree. Tom was awarded the designation of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in 2010 and is a member of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.

Outside the office, Tom's focus is on his growing family. He and his wife Megan live in Pinckney with their two young boys. He is an active participant in many Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti (A2Y) Chamber of Commerce activities and is currently participating in the A2Y Chamber's 2011-2012 Leadership Program.
